SN Aboitiz Power (SNAP) Group, a renewable energy provider, has recently received both local and international acclaim for its exceptional commitment to workplace safety and health. SNAP’s Ambuklao and Binga Hydroelectric Power Plants in Benguet, along with its Magat Plant in Isabela, have been recognized with the Gawad Kaligtasan and Kalusugan (GKK) regional awards for meeting and surpassing the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)’s rigorous safety and health standards.
DOLE-Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) Assistant Regional Director Emerito Narag praised the winners for their innovation, dedication, and commitment to occupational safety and health. Both SNAP’s Benguet and Magat facilities have consistently earned GKK regional accolades and continue to be top contenders at the national level. In fact, SNAP-Benguet was the national industry champion in 2022 and was subsequently nominated by DOLE for the ASEAN-Occupational Safety and Health Network (ASEAN-OSHNET) Excellence Awards.
On September 11, 2024, ASEAN-OSHNET honored SNAP in Singapore, naming it one of nine recipients of this year’s Excellence Award and the only representative from the Philippines. This recognition underscores SNAP’s leading position in workplace safety, health, and well-being, reinforcing the company’s continuous drive to maintain high standards in these areas.
Reflecting on this achievement, SNAP President and CEO Joseph Yu said, “We are immensely honored to receive this recognition. Over the years, we’ve built and fostered our safety culture to what it is now. Our people are our greatest assets, and our communities are our biggest partners. By prioritizing their safety, health, and well-being, we are not only protecting them, but also paving the way for a more resilient and sustainable future.”
The GKK, presented by DOLE, honors enterprises that demonstrate outstanding occupational safety and health practices, responding to the needs of workers, workplaces, and communities. Similarly, ASEAN-OSHNET, a collaborative network of occupational safety and health bodies from ASEAN countries, has been recognizing organizations for their safety and health excellence since 2016.
Through these awards, SNAP’s dedication to its employees and its proactive approach to creating a safe and healthy workplace continue to set a benchmark in the energy industry.
