Renewable energy provider SN Aboitiz Power Group (SNAP) has reaffirmed its commitment to inclusive development through new electrification partnerships in Benguet and Isabela.

SNAP signed Memorandums of Agreement (MOAs) with Benguet Electric Cooperative (BENECO) on March 28, 2025, and with Isabela Electric Cooperative (ISELCO) on April 11, 2025. These partnerships aim to implement community electrification projects funded by the Electrification Fund (EF) under the Department of Energy’s Energy Regulation No. 1-94 (ER 1-94) program.

The EF allocates 50% of one centavo per kilowatt-hour (₱0.005/kWh) from electricity sales to electrification initiatives in host communities. These projects support the DOE’s National Total Electrification Roadmap, which targets 100% nationwide electrification by 2028, with a focus on remote and underserved areas.

Since 2018, SNAP has generated ₱45 million in EF funds through the operations of its hydroelectric plants in Ambuklao and Binga (Benguet), and Magat and Maris (Isabela and Ifugao). In 2020, SNAP redirected part of the EF to support host communities during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The recent MOA signings underscore the value of strong collaboration between power producers and electric cooperatives to maximize the impact of ER 1-94 benefits for local development.
