STRENGTHENING TARLAC’s GOAT INDUSTRY

The local government continues to boost the agriculture sector through the Farmers’ Livestock School on Goat Enterprise Management (FLS-GEM) Batch 13, held on April 23, 2026, aimed at improving goat and sheep production as a sustainable livelihood.

Around 70 participants joined the training, focusing on improving breeding management, herd development, and genetic improvement to enhance livestock quality and productivity.

Key discussions covered proper selection of breeder goats and sheep, effective breeding systems, and improved care practices designed to increase production and income for farmers engaged in goat and sheep enterprises.

The program is a 28-week training initiative developed by the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development in partnership with the Department of Agriculture, aimed at strengthening farmers’ capabilities in livestock enterprise management.

Through initiatives like this, the Tarlac City government seeks to provide farmers with knowledge and opportunities toward more productive and sustainable agricultural livelihoods.
