Senator Sherwin Gatchalian marked the anniversary of the Climate Change Commission (CCC) with a call for more decisive action against the growing threats of climate change, citing recent typhoons and widespread flooding as urgent reminders.
“As we mark the founding anniversary of the Climate Change Commission, we are reminded to act decisively against worsening floods and other climate-related disasters,” Gatchalian said.
He urged the CCC to move beyond policy-making and lead concrete climate initiatives through stronger coordination, planning, and accountability among government agencies.
“Kailangan nating palakasin ang Climate Change Commission at ang mga polisiyang magsisilbing pananggalang ng ating mga kababayan, kabilang na ang isang komprehensibong flood control master plan,” the senator added.
