Senator Win Gatchalian is urging the national government to extend the No-Balance Billing (NBB) policy to all local government unit (LGU) hospitals, following the surge of patients seeking treatment in Department of Health (DOH)-accredited facilities.
“The influx of patients after the President’s announcement of the NBB policy shows the high demand for affordable healthcare,” Gatchalian said. “This calls for the expansion of the program to LGU hospitals through direct subsidies from the national government.”
He emphasized that broadening the NBB coverage would serve as a stronger safety net for Filipinos, especially the poor, ensuring that no one is denied medical care due to lack of funds.
