Senator Win Gatchalian welcomed the signing of Republic Act No. 12288, the Career Progression System for Public School Teachers and School Leaders Act, which creates broader career opportunities for educators and school administrators.

“Mas malawak na ngayon ang mga oportunidad para sa ating mga public school teachers at school leaders dahil sa Career Progression System na pinagtibay ng batas,” said Gatchalian, sponsor of the measure.

The law institutionalizes a career progression system that supports professional growth and advancement for teachers and school leaders. It directs the Department of Budget and Management to establish new teaching positions, including Teacher IV to VII, Master Teacher V and VI, and School Principal V.

The Department of Education is tasked to issue promotion guidelines anchored on merit, competence, and professional standards, ensuring that advancement is based on qualifications rather than hierarchy.
