Tarlac rescuers save 2 boys swept by irrigation current

After an overnight search and rescue operation, authorities successfully located two young boys who were swept away by strong water currents while crossing the NIA irrigation in Sitio Pangulo, Barangay Carangian, around 2:00 PM on September 3.

Mayor Susan Yap, together with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Public Order and Safety Office (POSO), City and Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices (CDRRMO/PDRRMO), Philippine National Police (PNP), Coast Guard, and barangay officials of Carangian and San Vicente, led the retrieval and diving operations despite heavy rains at noon today.

The Tarlac City Government assured continued support and assistance for the children’s families.

Officials strongly remind the public to exercise caution when crossing rivers, irrigation canals, and other waterways, especially during the rainy season. Parents are also urged to closely supervise their children to prevent similar incidents.
