Tropical Storm ‘Isang’ exits PAR, slightly intensifies

Tropical Storm Isang has exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), the state weather bureau PAGASA reported in its 11 a.m. advisory Saturday.

As of 10 a.m., Isang was spotted 440 km west of Bacnotan, La Union, packing maximum sustained winds of 85 kph and gusts of up to 105 kph while moving westward at 30 kph.

All tropical cyclone wind signals have been lifted, but the enhanced southwest monsoon will continue to bring strong to gale-force winds over Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Zambales, Bataan, Lubang Island, Romblon, and Kalayaan Islands.

PAGASA said Isang is expected to intensify into a severe tropical storm by Saturday night and could reach typhoon category by Sunday evening as it moves toward Hainan, China.
