50th Ronald McDonald Bahay Bulilit opens in Biliran

McDonald’s Philippines and Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) marked a major milestone with the opening of the 50th Ronald McDonald Bahay Bulilit Learning Center in Barangay Calumpang, Naval, Biliran on August 16.

The center provides a safe and engaging space for up to 100 children each school year, complete with colorful interiors, a playground, a reading corner, solar panels donated by RH Solar, and a vibrant mural by local artist Niño Torcuator that celebrates imagination and Biliran’s culture.

The turnover event brought together the Municipality of Naval led by Mayor Gretchen Espina and Vice Mayor Nick Arthur Parilla, McDonald’s Philippines officials including Managing Director Margot Torres, AVP for Corporate Relations Adi Hernandez, RMHC Executive Director Marie Angeles, and local partners like Coca-Cola Philippines and RH Solar. Families joined the festivities filled with storytelling, activities, and McDonald’s meals.

“This milestone is a testament to what we can achieve when different sectors work together,” said Hernandez. “Our work doesn’t stop here—our commitment continues to ensure more Filipino children gain access to early childhood education.”

Since its first center in 2002, Bahay Bulilit has grown into 50 centers nationwide, serving over 5,000 children each year and helping prepare them for kindergarten and grade school.
