For 219 Kapampangans, the gift of hearing brings renewed hope as the Provincial Government of Pampanga, in partnership with the Starkey Hearing Foundation, distributed free specialized hearing aids on October 26 at Benigno Hall, Capitol Compound.
Among the beneficiaries were four members of the Cuevas family from Floridablanca, whose hearing difficulties reportedly span generations.
They are Evelyn Cuevas, 39; Emily Cuevas, 41; Eric Cuevas, 37; and seven-year-old Jeremy Narra.
Vice Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda, joined by Lubao Mayor Esmie Pineda and provincial board members, led the distribution of the high-tech devices valued at ₱80,000 to ₱100,000 each.
Equipped with artificial intelligence connectivity and smartphone-based adjustments, the hearing aids were individually fitted following comprehensive hearing assessments.
Pineda reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to helping hearing-impaired children and working residents regain confidence, communicate better, and improve their quality of life.
He stressed that the province, under Governor Lilia “Nanay Baby” Pineda, will continue investing in quality hearing devices for Kapampangans in need.
Since the program began last year, 404 Kapampangans have benefited from the free hearing aid initiative.
Those seeking assistance may coordinate with the Pampanga Provincial Health Office.
