Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. has allocated P4 million for the P1,000 financial assistance to be given to 4,000 registered indigent solo parents in the 33 barangays, starting on February 7, 2022.
Mayor Lazatin said the distribution will be carried out via house-to-house, following safety protocols against COVID-19. This is also to ensure that the said beneficiary will receive the financial assistance.
Rebecca Peñaranda, the City’s focal person for solo parents affairs, has the updated and organized database for the solo parents community in the 33 barangays.
Earlier, upon the instructions of Mayor Lazatin, Peñaranda and Social Welfare Officer II Anne Ley Patio went on visitation to the 33 barangays to identify the members of the solo parents’ community and conduct an orientation.
Peñaranda recently had a meeting with Lazatin’s Chief Adviser IC Calaguas and Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel to discuss the distribution.
The Gender and Development Office led by Mina Cabiles will assist during the delivery of assistance.
“We, the solo parents, are very thankful to the Lazatin administration, for always looking out for our welfare. Malaking tulong po ito para sa amin. Hindi niya po kami pinapabayaan at laging kasama ang aming sector sa binibigyan niya ng prayoridad na proyekto,” Peñaranda said.
Meanwhile, City Social Welfare and Development Officer Edna Duaso said as soon as Mayor Lazatin took office in 2019, the CSWDO has been releasing IDs for the members of the solo parents community to allow them to avail of the benefits they are entitled to.
Among the beneficiaries of the livelihood program of the city government are solo parents, particularly in the Angeleño First Facemask livelihood project.
During the lockdown period, P1,000 cash aid for 5,000 members of the solo parents community were also given, amounting to P5 million.
Last October 2021, P1,000 financial assistance each were also given to registered indigent solo parents.
