The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), in collaboration with the Provincial Government of Pampanga, provided P3,000 cash and food assistance to 138 pregnant women from the City of San Fernando on Wednesday, July 3.
The event, held as part of the First 1,000 Days Program, was led by former board member and now Executive Assistant IV, Mylyn Pineda-Cayabyab, representing Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda.
It featured lectures on maternal and child health care, which covered topics such as regular check-ups, vaccinations, and proper nutrition before, during, and after pregnancy. The importance of breastfeeding was also highlighted, emphasizing its vital role in a child’s health and development.
In addition to the cash and food assistance, the provincial government, through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), distributed goods, hygiene kits, and vitamins to the beneficiaries.
The First 1,000 Days Program aims to address the health and nutrition needs of mothers and children during the critical first 1,000 days of life, from zero to two years old.
