DOTr Sec. Dizon thanks NLEX for Toll Relief amid bridge repairs

Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon has expressed his appreciation to NLEX Corporation for responding to the Department of Transportation’s (DOTr) request for temporary toll relief along the Balintawak to Meycauayan stretch of the expressway. The toll relief will remain in effect until emergency repairs on the Marilao Interchange Bridge are completed.

Sec. Dizon noted that the toll suspension will help alleviate the traffic congestion caused by the ongoing repairs, which have led to significant delays for motorists and commuters, particularly in the areas around Balintawak and Bocaue. He also instructed NLEX to expedite the repair works, with the target completion date set for the end of the month.

“We are grateful to NLEX Corp. and the entire government for responding to our request to temporarily waive tolls in the area heavily affected by traffic. Many thanks to Mr. Manny Pangilinan and the leadership of NLEX and Metro Pacific Tollways Corp.,” Sec. Dizon said.

“This will go a long way in reducing the difficulties faced by our citizens who are currently experiencing setbacks due to the ongoing construction at Marilao,” he added.

NLEX Corp. had closed two middle sections of the expressway in Marilao for 24/7 safety repairs after a trailer truck, exceeding the allowable vertical limit, collided with the Marilao Interchange Bridge. ###
