Philippine Airlines (PAL) continues to chart new skies with the successful launch of its direct flights between Manila and Da Nang, Vietnamโfurther cementing the flag carrierโs role in promoting regional connectivity and cultural exchange.
Flight PR 585 departed Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) at 11:10 AM, marking the beginning of PALโs thrice-weekly service to Da Nang. The route is scheduled to increase to four weekly flights by November 2025, offering more options for travelers heading to one of Vietnamโs most vibrant destinations.
A send-off ceremony at NAIA Terminal 1 brought together aviation partners and government officials, including representatives from the Department of Tourism and the Embassy of Vietnam.
โWe are proud to welcome Da Nang to our expanding network,โ said PAL President Richard Nuttall. โWith this new route, PAL now serves three major cities in VietnamโDa Nang, Hanoi, and Ho Chi Minh Cityโmore than in any other ASEAN country. This reflects the strong bond of friendship between our nations.โ
Vietnamese Ambassador to the Philippines Lai Thai Binh emphasized the flightโs symbolic value as both countries prepare to celebrate major diplomatic milestonesโthe 10th anniversary of their strategic partnership in 2025 and the 50th year of diplomatic relations in 2026.
โThis flight is more than a connection between two cities; itโs a bridge between our people, cultures, and shared dreams,โ the Ambassador said.
For the Department of Tourism, the new service meets growing demand from Filipino travelers exploring Vietnamโs coastal and cultural destinations, and vice versa. โAs Da Nang emerges as a favorite among Filipino tourists, this direct flight makes travel more accessible while also welcoming more Vietnamese visitors to the Philippines,โ said DOT Undersecretary Shahlimar Hofer Tamano.
Nestled between historic Hue and the ancient town of Hoi An, Da Nang is a rising tourism hotspot known for its beaches, culinary scene, and proximity to UNESCO World Heritage sites. The city also offers modern attractions and outdoor adventures, making it an ideal destination for both leisure and business travelers.
The new route is operated by PALโs Airbus A321 aircraft, offering both Business and Economy Class service to accommodate up to 199 passengers in comfort.
