Cebu Pacific (PSE: CEB), the Philippines’ leading airline, has officially turned over 10,000 mangrove trees to the Tapon Fisherfolks Association and the local government of Dumanjug, Cebu, as part of its continued efforts to promote environmental protection and community resilience.
The ceremonial turnover, held in partnership with the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI), was attended by fisherfolk leaders, local officials, and representatives from Cebu Pacific. The event highlighted the shared goal of protecting coastal ecosystems and providing sustainable livelihood opportunities to communities.

“This initiative is a long-term investment in both our environment and the people who depend on it,” said Aileen Isidro, Cebu Pacific Vice President for Corporate Strategy and Risk Officer. “We are proud to work hand in hand with RAFI and the Tapon Fisherfolks Association in restoring and protecting our coastlines.”
Launched in January 2023, the mangrove program forms part of Cebu Pacific’s broader sustainability roadmap, which champions nature-based solutions to help mitigate climate change and reduce environmental impact. It also includes livelihood support by equipping local communities with skills in mangrove seedling propagation, site preparation, and planting.
To date, more than five hectares of coastline have been restored under the program, and 35 fisherfolk have been trained to maintain the sites. With the formal turnover, the Tapon Fisherfolks Association will take the lead in monitoring and managing the mangrove areas.
“Sustainability thrives when communities are at the heart of the effort,” said Dio Angelo Alojado, CEB Director for Corporate Strategy and Sustainability. “This program empowers local residents to protect their own environment and build resilience from the ground up.”
RAFI Chief Communications and Partnerships Officer Estee Marie Plunket also lauded the collaboration: “We are grateful to Cebu Pacific for supporting grassroots mangrove efforts. Together, we are taking real steps toward a greener, more climate-resilient Cebu.”
Cebu Pacific’s environmental programs are part of the airline’s commitment to support the aviation industry’s net-zero target by 2050 and to promote responsible travel across the regions it serves. CEB currently operates flights to 37 domestic and 26 international destinations in Asia, Australia, and the Middle East.
