SNAP-Benguet celebrates 17 Years, eyes a future powered by innovation

SN Aboitiz Power-Benguet (SNAP-Benguet) celebrated its 17th anniversary on July 10, 2025, at the Binga Hydroelectric Power Plant with the theme “Charting New Horizons.” The milestone gathered local leaders, partners, and employees to reflect on the company’s journey and its role in shaping a sustainable energy future.

From its roots as a leading hydropower operator, SNAP-Benguet is expanding into new energy technologies like battery energy storage systems (BESS), a move that highlights its commitment to innovation and energy transition.

“We are proud of what we’ve achieved and even more excited about where we’re going,” said SNAP President and CEO Joseph Yu. “Battery energy storage is our way of contributing to a cleaner, more resilient energy future.”

Vice Mayor Alain Xavier “Dax” Godio expressed full support for SNAP-Benguet’s efforts, reaffirming the importance of strong partnerships between the private sector, government, and communities in achieving energy security and sustainability.

In the days leading up to the anniversary, SNAP-Benguet organized a blood donation drive, a mental health awareness session, and a clean-up activity. On July 9, the company signed a memorandum of agreement with Barangay Tinongdan for new CSR projects focused on the environment, health, education, and livelihood.

Yu concluded, “With our hydropower legacy and push toward emerging technologies, we remain committed to empowering communities and supporting the country’s energy goals.”
