Converge brings Project PIGLET to Pasay

Converge ICT Solutions Inc. continues to promote responsible digital behavior through its flagship program, Project PIGLET (Privacy Integration through Guided Learning of Emerging Technologies), this time reaching students and parents in Pasay City.

In a recent session held at Timoteo Paez Elementary School in Malibay, 80 Grade 6 students and 20 parents participated in a fun and educational program designed to raise awareness on online privacy and safety. The session was led by Converge’s Corporate Governance and Data Privacy (CGDP) Group, which highlighted the importance of digital literacy in protecting young users.

“As we grow as a technology company, we remain committed to promoting safe and responsible use of digital tools,” said Atty. Laurice Esteban-Tuason, Converge Corporate Compliance and Data Protection Officer. “Tools like AI can be powerful for learning, but they also pose risks such as online sexual abuse and exploitation of children (OSAEC).”

Using storytelling to engage young minds, Converge Privacy Officer Larry Caduada introduced ‘Captain Conrad’ and the ‘Astro Friends’ — characters that teach online safety practices in an interactive format.

School principal Jeanne Rejuso expressed appreciation for the initiative. “Children today are exposed not only to physical dangers but also to emotional and psychological risks online. Project PIGLET helps them navigate the digital space safely and responsibly.”

The program also emphasized the role of parents in guiding their children’s digital experiences.

Project PIGLET was recently recognized as a finalist for the National Privacy Commission’s Privacy Initiative of the Year during Privacy Awareness Week in June. The Pasay session is part of a broader series of activities held by Converge from July 14 to 25 to mark this observance.
