The Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) has approved the implementation of the third and final tranche of periodic toll rate adjustments for the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), set to take effect on September 9, 2025.
Under the new rates, motorists will pay an additional ₱0.64 per kilometer for Class 1 vehicles, ₱1.29 for Class 2, and ₱1.93 for Class 3. The adjustments form part of the 2020/2022 petition covering increases originally scheduled for 2021 and 2023, which were spread out over three tranches to soften the impact on road users.
For those traveling from Mabalacat City (Mabiga Interchange) to Tarlac, additional charges will be ₱25 for Class 1 vehicles (cars/SUVs), ₱51 for Class 2 (buses and small trucks), and ₱75 for Class 3 (large trucks and trailers). From Mabiga to Tipo, Hermosa, Bataan, motorists will pay ₱40, ₱80, and ₱121 more for Class 1, 2, and 3 vehicles, respectively. For end-to-end travel from Tipo to Tarlac, the additional tolls will be ₱66 (Class 1), ₱131 (Class 2), and ₱197 (Class 3).
The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) and NLEX Corporation said the adjustments support continued improvements on SCTEX. Recent projects include the opening of the New Clark City Interchange, upgrades to RFID and toll systems using Neology technology, installation of more CCTV cameras and speed monitoring systems, and repair works on bridges such as Porac-Gumain and Pasig-Potrero. Routine maintenance covering pavement repairs, guardrails, signage, and repainting also continues.
In line with sustainability goals, rainwater harvesting systems were installed at the Floridablanca and Dinalupihan rest bays, while solar-powered lights with wind turbines are being introduced to further green the expressway.
Authorities emphasized that these initiatives reflect their commitment to providing safe, reliable, and sustainable road infrastructure for motorists.
