SM Supermalls wins big for sustainability

SM Supermalls earned two Silver Awards at the prestigious ICSC MAXI Awards, gaining global recognition for its sustainability-driven initiatives that promote community engagement, innovation, and environmental responsibility.

Recognized by the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), one of the world’s leading organizations in the retail and shopping industry, the awards honored SM Supermalls’ “Art From All: Turning Community Action into Public Art” and “The SM Green Movement: Sustaining Communities Through Responsible Design.”

Launched in May 2025, Art From All transformed sustainability into an interactive mall experience by encouraging shoppers to donate plastic waste, which were later converted into large-scale cultural art installations displayed inside SM malls. The initiative highlighted how creativity and collective action can turn discarded materials into meaningful public art.

Meanwhile, the SM Green Movement was recognized for its continuing efforts to reduce the environmental impact of mall operations through responsible design and sustainable practices. The initiative focuses on addressing challenges involving water, energy, and waste management while promoting environmental awareness among communities.

The ICSC MAXI Awards honor outstanding campaigns and programs from shopping centers and retail brands around the world that create lasting impact on communities, culture, and business.

The international recognition reflects SM Supermalls’ continued commitment to creating meaningful experiences while championing Filipino creativity, community collaboration, and sustainable living.
