Over 14,000 Kapampangans flocked to the annual celebration of the Canonical Coronation of Virgen de los Remedios on September 8, proving that neither rain nor calamities can weaken their faith and devotion.
The Archdiocese of San Fernando, through Archbishop Florentino Lavarias, Archbishop Emeritus Paciano Aniceto, and more than 100 priests, led the concelebrated mass with the Pampanga Provincial Government as partner. This year’s theme, “Mitmung kapanayan king pamaglakbe; Indung Maria yang kayantabe,” highlighted unity in faith and the guiding presence of Mary.
Prayers were offered by Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda for thanksgiving to Virgen de los Remedios and by Mayor Johnny Sambo for deliverance through Sto. Cristo del Perdón y Caridad.
The program featured a solemn coronation, procession, and liturgy, affirming the Virgen’s place as patroness, symbol of solidarity, and source of hope among Kapampangans.
Provincial leaders including Vice Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda with wife and former Sta. Rita Mayor Yolly Pineda, board members, municipal mayors, and department heads were present in the historic gathering.
Police estimated the crowd at 14,000–16,000 devotees, underscoring the deep-rooted faith of the Kapampangan community.
