From Beans to Dreams: Aytas brew new futures

Indigenous farmers at the Ayta Ethno-Botanical Center (AEBC) in New Clark City are now exploring the world of coffee cultivation as a new livelihood path.

Now on its 11th week, the training program recently welcomed B-Jay Blancas, certified coffee mentor from Farm to Cup PH, a Benguet-based group that champions coffee from farming and processing to brewing and café operations.

Putting their lessons into practice, Ayta trainees have already planted 200 Robusta coffee seedlings—a promising start to their coffee journey.

Through the AEBC, the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA), in partnership with the Pampanga State Agricultural University (PSAU) and the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office 3, continues to equip indigenous communities with sustainable farming skills and long-term livelihood opportunities. The program is led by Project Manager and UP Professor F. Charito Sebastian.
