Angeles City on Alert: River and water level monitoring underway

The Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (ACDRRMO), through its Operations and Warning Division, conducted intensive monitoring of riverbanks and water levels on Monday, September 22, 2025, particularly along the Abacan River, as well as major roads across the city.

The activity was carried out as part of the city’s preparedness measures against the expected impact of Super Typhoon Nando, which continues to threaten parts of Luzon. Officials said the monitoring aims to detect possible flooding, soil erosion, and rising waters that could endanger communities in low-lying areas.

The ACDRRMO emphasized that real-time monitoring is a crucial component of the city’s early warning system, allowing authorities to issue timely advisories, implement pre-emptive evacuations if necessary, and ensure the safety of residents.

In addition to the Abacan River, flood-prone zones and critical road networks are also under close watch to help guarantee safe passage for residents, emergency responders, and essential services during the typhoon.

The monitoring forms part of Angeles City’s proactive disaster preparedness efforts under the directive of the local government, reaffirming its commitment to a “Ligtas at Handang Angeles City.”
