DOLE Pampanga pushes Family Welfare Program to boost workplace well-being

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Pampanga Labor Inspectorate gathered medium-sized companies for an online orientation on the Family Welfare Program (FWP) to promote healthier and more supportive workplaces.

Senior Labor and Employment Officer Akbar O. Tumale discussed the program’s 10 key dimensions—from reproductive health, nutrition, and education to spirituality, recreation, and transportation assistance—highlighting how these initiatives can uplift morale and reduce absenteeism. He also briefed participants on ILO Convention 190, emphasizing the need to maintain workplaces free from violence and harassment.

While only establishments with over 200 workers are mandated to form Family Welfare Committees, DOLE Pampanga encouraged firms with 100–199 workers to adopt the program early. Provincial Head May Lynn C. Gozun stressed that institutionalizing worker-centered policies leads to higher retention, better productivity, and stronger trust between employees and management.

The orientation forms part of DOLE’s continuing efforts to build safe, inclusive, and welfare-driven workplaces across Pampanga.
