Cebu Pacific cancels bookings linked to fraudulent credit card use

Cebu Pacific, in an official statement, confirmed that it has cancelled several flight bookings after determining that these were purchased using fraudulent credit cards.

Following an investigation, the airline found that certain individuals used stolen or unauthorized credit cards to book Cebu Pacific flights, which were later converted into Travel Funds. These Travel Funds were then illegally resold through unauthorized channels, primarily on social media platforms.

The airline identified several Facebook groups where the unauthorized sale of Cebu Pacific flights allegedly took place, including Cebu Pacific Refund, Cebu Pacific Travel Fund (For Sale), Cebu Pacific Air, and CEBU PACIFIC PISO FARE/ PROMO TICKET/ LOW FARE.

Cebu Pacific said it is closely coordinating with authorities to further investigate individuals and groups involved in the illegal sale of airline tickets, as part of its efforts to protect passengers from fraudulent activities.

Passengers affected by the cancelled bookings have already been notified and were advised to rebook their flights directly through the airline’s official website using a valid and authorized form of payment should they wish to proceed with their travel plans.

The airline reiterated in its statement that passengers should only book flights through Cebu Pacific’s official website, mobile app, or accredited travel partners to ensure legitimate transactions and avoid disruptions. It also warned that bookings made through unauthorized sellers may result in invalid or incomplete tickets, additional charges, or the inability to access services such as online check-in, rebooking, refunds, or add-ons.

Cebu Pacific encouraged passengers to make reservations directly via www.cebupacificair.com or through its official mobile app available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
