A legacy of culture, service, and generosity took center stage as Congressman Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. attended the commemorative ceremony marking the 111th birth anniversary of Renato “Katoks” Tayag, an esteemed Angeleño lawyer, writer, and cultural icon.
Tayag’s legacy lives on not only through his contributions to Angeles City’s cultural heritage but also through his family’s generosity. During the term of then-Mayor Rafael “Apung Feleng” Lazatin, the congressman’s grandfather, the Tayag family donated the land where the Angeles City Library now stands.
More than a tribute to a distinguished Angeleño, the occasion celebrated a lasting gift to the community—one that continues to nurture knowledge, preserve culture, and inspire generations.
