DTI: Expanded Baliwag Central Terminal reflects investor confidence in Bulacan

The recently expanded Baliwag Central Terminal stands as a testament to strong investor confidence in Bulacan, particularly in Baliwag City, according to Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Acting Provincial Director Coco Chanel Garcia-Yap.

Garcia-Yap explained that the upgraded terminal serves as an “investors’ magnet,” attracting additional investments and generating new employment opportunities. She noted that the project exemplifies effective collaboration between the government and private sector.

The terminal project began in 2015 as a public-private partnership between the then Baliwag municipal government and SM Supermall, aiming to modernize the city’s transport system and ease traffic along the northbound lane of Daang Maharlika.

Baliwag Central Terminal opened to the public in 2016. In the 2020s, it underwent further expansion, adding 6,000 square meters of space. The facility now features improved passenger amenities, including additional seating, upgraded bus loading and unloading bays, and organized jeepney and tricycle terminals. One Town, One Product kiosks and a fitness facility have also been incorporated to enhance the commuter experience.

The latest commercial investment is Ace Builders Hardware, which opened its largest branch in Asia at the terminal.

Mayor Sonia Estrella highlighted the terminal as proof of Baliwag’s investor-friendly environment. The city received a Special Citation from the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry in 2025 for its efficient business policies, including fast-track approval of business permits.

Located adjacent to the Baliwag Government Center, the terminal benefits from a modern Business One-Stop Shop, accelerating the investment process. Other nearby institutions include the Baliwag Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Baliwag Polytechnic College, Baliwag Star Arena, Climate Change Center, and the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office of the DENR.

Mayor Estrella encouraged more investors to set up businesses in Baliwag, noting that ample non-agricultural land remains available, offering potential for job creation and economic growth.
