Authorities uncovered another alleged illegal cigarette manufacturing facility on Thursday during an inspection conducted by the Municipality of Mexico’s Joint Inspection Team, led by Mayor Ruding Santos Gonzales.
During the operation, inspectors discovered that the facility was operating without the required permits and was not complying with existing local government regulations.

Mayor Gonzales stressed that illegal operations have no place in the municipality, emphasizing that public safety and strict, fair enforcement of the law remain top priorities of the local government.
The municipal government also confirmed that monitoring and inspection of other establishments will continue to ensure all businesses are properly registered and compliant with local and national laws.

Earlier, Mayor Gonzales issued a directive to all barangay chairpersons to remain vigilant and immediately report any suspicious or “shady” business activities to authorities, warning that failure to do so may result in accountability under existing laws.
During the inspection, authorities found containers of raw tobacco materials, machinery, and packaging supplies inside a warehouse located in Barangay San Jose Malino. Reports indicate that hundreds of tons of raw tobacco and manufacturing equipment were discovered, allegedly intended for the production of counterfeit cigarettes.
The inspection was conducted in coordination with Mexico Police Chief Police Lt. Col. Julius Javier and members of the LGU inspection team.
The local government reiterated its commitment to maintaining peace, order, and the safety of all residents of Mexico.
