Mayor Jon orders inspection of gas stations

Mayor Carmelo ‘Jon’ Lazatin II has ordered the inspection of gasoline stations across the city to prevent fuel hoarding and unjustified price increases.

The Angeles City Government, through the Business Permits and Licensing Division (BPLD), began conducting inspections to monitor fuel supply and ensure compliance with pricing regulations.

The initiative aims to protect consumers and maintain fair and transparent fuel prices for Angeleños, motorists, and businesses, particularly amid global developments affecting oil prices.

Mayor Jon emphasized the need to safeguard consumers, especially public utility jeepney (PUJ) drivers and daily commuters who rely heavily on affordable fuel to sustain their livelihood.

The mayor also reiterated the city government’s commitment to protecting residents by ensuring that gasoline stations operate responsibly and follow established pricing rules.

Inspection activities are scheduled from March 9 to 12 and from March 16 to 19, 2026, with the BPLD directed to submit regular reports to ensure proper monitoring.

The city government also reminded gasoline station owners and operators to strictly follow the guidelines set by the Department of Energy regarding fuel pricing and supply.

Hoarding and the illegal sale of petroleum products are prohibited under Batas Pambansa Blg. 33, as amended by Presidential Decree No. 1865, with violators facing penalties and possible cancellation of their business permits.

The Angeles City Government urged residents to remain vigilant and report gasoline stations suspected of hoarding fuel or imposing unjustified price increases. Officials said cooperation between the community and the local government will help ensure fair fuel prices and protect the welfare of motorists and residents.
