Around 22.58 million liters of diesel have arrived in the Philippines, boosting domestic fuel supply amid ongoing challenges caused by the conflict in the Middle East.
The Department of Energy (DOE) said the shipment—equivalent to about 142,000 barrels—was procured under the government’s ₱20-billion Emergency Energy Security Program, implemented following Executive Order 110, which declared a national energy emergency.
The program aims to secure up to 2 million barrels of additional fuel through the Philippine National Oil Corporation (PNOC) and PNOC Exploration Corporation (PNOC EC) to stabilize supply nationwide.
Energy Secretary Sharon Garin said the delivery is part of efforts to prevent disruptions in transportation, livelihoods, and daily activities of Filipinos. She added that this marks the first overseas shipment under the program, with more deliveries expected in the coming days or weeks. (PNA)
