A national grassroots golf program is gaining momentum as key government agencies and sports stakeholders unite to make the sport more accessible to Filipinos across the country.
The initiative, “Fairway to the Future,” is being spearheaded by Patrick Gregorio of the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) and the National Golf Association of the Philippines, represented by Secretary-General Bones Floro. It aims to transform golf from an elite pastime into a more inclusive grassroots sport by decentralizing talent identification and establishing regional training hubs.

Through the program, NGAP-accredited instructors will conduct training sessions for junior golfers, public school students, and children of golf club staff in government and military-supported courses nationwide. The effort is being carried out in partnership with the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority, Armed Forces of the Philippines, and Department of National Defense.
Organizers said the program seeks to provide standardized, high-quality instruction and access to proper equipment regardless of location, helping bridge the participation gap between the Philippines and its ASEAN neighbors.
The planning meeting gathered representatives from multiple agencies, including the Department of Tourism (DOT), Bases Conversion and Development Authority, and Club Intramuros, along with officials from military golf units and regional partners who joined both in person and virtually.
The strong turnout highlighted a unified commitment among stakeholders to advance grassroots golf development and nurture the next generation of Filipino athletes.
