Globe advances green network, backs climate action at ASEAN business events

As the Philippines hosts this year’s ASEAN Summit, Globe Telecom is reinforcing its commitment to sustainability and climate action through active participation in key engagements of the ASEAN Business Advisory Council.

During the ASEAN BAC–Asia Pacific Financial Forum (APFF) 2026 Conference held on April 8, Globe highlighted its data-driven “Green Network” strategy, positioning it as a model for private sector-led initiatives aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions and supporting sustainable development.

Representing the company, Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer Yoly Crisanto joined discussions on financing green initiatives. She emphasized the role of data, science-based targets, and investments in renewable energy and energy efficiency in strengthening the case for sustainability-focused financing.

The conference gathered regional leaders from government and industry under the theme of financing a digital, inclusive, sustainable, and resilient future for Southeast Asia, with a focus on mobilizing capital for clean energy transition and climate action.

Globe reported progress in increasing its renewable energy usage, targeting 42 percent of its electricity consumption from renewable sources by 2030. The company also plans to power over 3,000 cell sites with renewable energy by 2028, having already reached 34 percent renewable energy use in 2025.

The company’s engagement extended to the ASEAN BAC Private Sector Interface with the ASEAN Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors’ Meeting, where Globe Chief Finance Officer, Treasurer, and Chief Risk Officer Carlo Puno participated in discussions on strengthening financial systems, enhancing regional cooperation, and addressing climate-related risks.

Globe’s participation in these high-level forums underscores the importance of aligning corporate sustainability efforts with regional policy and financial frameworks, as Southeast Asia continues its transition toward a more integrated, digital, and climate-resilient future.
