Assumption College has reportedly removed the portrait of alumna Loren Legarda from its Wall of Empowered Women following criticism from the Assumption Student Council over her role in the recent Senate leadership change.
The student council earlier issued an official statement supporting calls for the removal of Legarda’s portrait, saying her recent actions no longer aligned with the values upheld by the institution.

In its statement, the Assumption Student Council stressed that recognition within the school must reflect not only achievement, but also character, accountability, and moral courage.
“The women we honor must embody the values we teach,” the council said.
The student body added that the Wall of Empowered Women represents leaders whose actions continue to uphold truth, justice, and public accountability.
“As a community formed by these values, we believe it is our responsibility to speak when those principles are at stake,” the statement read.
The council also urged the Assumption community to remain vigilant and steadfast in upholding the values they claim to stand for.
Legarda, a former journalist and longtime public servant, is among the prominent alumnae previously featured on the school’s Wall of Empowered Women.
