Seventh fatality recovered from Balibago collapse site

Search and retrieval teams recovered the body of a male victim from the rubble of the collapsed building in Barangay Balibago at around 7:50 a.m. on Sunday, bringing the death toll to seven.

The recovery was reported by the Unified Command to Responsible Official and Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II. The victim was extricated from Quadrant 2 of the incident site.

The remains were immediately subjected to the Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) process, including proper tagging and documentation by the City Health Office to ensure accurate identification.

According to Mayor Lazatin, responders also recovered a vaccination card bearing a name that may help identify the victim. However, authorities emphasized that the information remains subject to verification and cannot be considered an official identification until the DVI process is completed.

Search, retrieval, and clearing operations continue at ground zero as responders remain focused on locating other possible victims beneath the debris.

The city government likewise assured continued assistance and support to families affected by the tragedy.
