The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), the Philippine Coast Guard, and the Office of Pampanga 4th District Representative Anna York Bondoc, continues its large-scale clean-up drive to support the rehabilitation of Manila Bay and its tributaries.
Under DOLE’s TUPAD program, 180 workers were mobilized to remove waste from rivers, esteros, and coastal areas, while 220 river rangers continue to assist in monitoring and cleanup operations across the district.
The initiative builds on a similar campaign in 2024 that collected about 1,950 cubic meters of waste from eight Pampanga municipalities within 10 days.
DENR Regional Executive Director Ralph Pablo said the effort reflects the agency’s commitment to environmental protection and community participation, stressing the need for sustained collaboration among government agencies, local government units, and communities.
Supported by the Armed Forces of the Philippines, local governments, volunteers, and community members, the ongoing drive has so far collected more than 1,180 kilograms of waste from Pampanga waterways, helping improve water quality, reduce flood risks, and promote a cleaner environment.
