Filipina tennis player Alex Eala etched another milestone in Philippine sports history after becoming the first Filipina to win a main draw match at the Wimbledon Championships.

Eala dominated Mexico’s Renata Zarazua, 6-1, 6-2, in just 78 minutes to advance to the second round.

The No. 29 seed, who earlier became the first Filipina to be seeded in a Grand Slam main draw, will next face the winner between former world No. 1 Serena Williams and Australia’s Maya Joint.
