The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), through its Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) in Dingalan, conducted a plogging activity and distributed 500 guyabano seedlings in Maria Aurora, Aurora.
Dubbed “BasuRun: Run for Fun, Pick Up for Change,” the three-kilometer activity gathered 153 participants from various sectors who collected 194 kilograms of waste along the national highway, promoting fitness, volunteerism, and proper solid waste management.
CENRO Dingalan Head Jimmy Aberin said participants exchanged collected waste for guyabano seedlings as part of efforts to encourage tree planting and environmental responsibility.
DENR Regional Executive Director Ralph Pablo emphasized the importance of community participation in sustaining environmental programs, noting that combined efforts in physical activity, waste management, and tree growing help build cleaner and greener communities.
The activity was held in partnership with local government units and various agencies, including the PNP, BFP, BJMP, Aurora State College of Technology, and barangays Sta. Lucia, Detailen, and Dikildit.
