Seventeen Filipino agribusiness startups completed a five-day immersion program in Singapore aimed at strengthening innovation, entrepreneurship, and technology adoption in the agriculture sector.
Organized by the Department of Agriculture through its Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Service in partnership with Republic Polytechnic Singapore, the Filipino Young Farmers Immersion on Agribusiness and Technology Incubation Program ran from July 6 to 10.
Participants from various regions of the Philippines gained insights into agriculture and artificial intelligence, food safety and traceability, cold chain management, and the agrifood ecosystem linking the Philippines and Singapore. They also underwent pitch training, coaching sessions, and knowledge exchanges with Singaporean startup founders.
The program concluded with a courtesy call on Philippine Ambassador Medardo G. Macaraig, joined by Philippine Agricultural Attaché for Southeast Asia Annalyn L. Lopez-Jamora and Department of Agriculture officials. The ambassador commended the young agri-preneurs for their innovations and encouraged them to apply sustainable and forward-looking practices learned during the immersion.
