The Angeles City Government provided assistance and intervention to 10 individuals during a reach-out operation conducted along Fields Avenue/Walking Street in Barangay Balibago on July 13 as part of Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II’s continuing directive to protect vulnerable sectors.
The operation reached eight minors—five boys and three girls—and two adult males.
Six minors and one adult were referred to the Angeles City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (ACADAC) for drug testing. Results showed that one minor and one adult tested positive for illegal drug use.
The six minors were subsequently referred to Kanlungan ng Kabataan for appropriate intervention and rehabilitation, while the adult who tested positive was endorsed to ACADAC for further action and rehabilitation.
Meanwhile, one adult and two minors received warnings and attended an orientation on the Anti-Mendicancy Law as part of the city’s ongoing information and education campaign.
The operation was carried out through the coordinated efforts of the Angeles City Tourist Information and Visitors Engagement (ACTIVE), Philippine National Police Women and Children Protection Desk/City Mobile Force Company, ACADAC, and the City Social Welfare and Development Office.
City officials said Angeles will continue implementing programs that provide protection, intervention, and support for individuals in need, particularly children and youth, to help build a safer and more compassionate community.
