The Philippines is positioning itself to capture opportunities in the global artificial intelligence economy through the proposed Pax Silica initiative in New Clark City, which aims to attract future-focused industries, create high-value jobs, and provide more opportunities for Filipino talent locally.
During a Malacañang press briefing, BCDA President and CEO Joshua M. Bingcang and DICT Undersecretary-Designate Leonido Pulido III highlighted key points of the project:
⇒ Up to USD 200 billion in export potential at full development
⇒ 130,000 to 190,000 high-quality jobs for Filipinos
⇒ Full compliance with Philippine laws and government oversight
⇒ No displacement of Indigenous Peoples, as the project site is on BCDA-owned titled land
⇒ Sufficient water supply confirmed by the National Water Resources Board
⇒ A commercial advanced manufacturing ecosystem, not a defense or weapons manufacturing facility
The agreement is targeted for signing within the year, with construction expected to begin in 2028.
The initiative is seen as a step toward strengthening the country’s capabilities, creating better opportunities for Filipinos, and moving the Philippines higher in the global value chain.
