The Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) has intensified its efforts to identify and arrest individuals behind a wave of bomb threat hoaxes targeting schools across Central Luzon.
PRO3 said it has recorded 47 bomb threat reports involving schools since May 1, 2026. While all were confirmed as hoaxes, authorities treated each report as a real threat, deploying police personnel, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) teams, K9 units, and emergency responders.
The incidents caused class disruptions and diverted police resources, prompting intensified investigations in coordination with school officials, local government units, and partner agencies.
The Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit 3 (RACU 3) is also tracing the sources of threats sent through social media, email, messaging applications, and other digital platforms. The investigations have so far led to the arrest of two 18-year-old suspects from Bulacan and Nueva Ecija, who are facing criminal charges.
PRO3 Regional Director PBGen Jess B. Mendez warned that bomb threat hoaxes are serious offenses with far-reaching consequences.
“Bomb threats are not pranks—they are criminal acts,” Mendez said, adding that authorities will continue to identify those responsible and hold them accountable under the law.
PRO3 urged school officials, parents, students, and the public to remain vigilant, avoid spreading unverified information, and immediately report suspicious messages, calls, or activities to the nearest police station or through 911.
