Members of the Tarlac Organic Producers (TOPS) underwent training on nursery accreditation, plant material certification, and Philippine Good Agricultural Practices (PhilGAP) on July 23, 2026, in Tarlac City.
Organized by the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office III (DA-RFO III) through its Regulatory Division, the training aimed to strengthen farmers’ knowledge of standards and regulations for quality planting materials and safe, sustainable farming.
The sessions covered proper nursery management and accreditation, plant material certification requirements, and PhilGAP standards and application procedures. Speakers emphasized the importance of quality and traceable planting materials, food safety, environmental protection, and improved crop quality.
Regulatory Division Assistant Chief Marilyn G. Velarde urged participants to apply their learnings and comply with established standards to help build a safer, higher-quality, and more sustainable agricultural sector.
