Department of Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon inspected the Redemptorist Water Channel in Barangay Baclaran and expressed alarm over the massive volume of garbage clogging the waterway and drainage systems, contributing to severe flooding in the city.

Following President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) deployed two backhoes, one backhoe loader, five dump trucks and 50 personnel to conduct clearing operations and restore the flow of water.

Dizon called for greater discipline in waste disposal and a comprehensive solution to the country’s garbage problem.

“Kailangan na rin talaga natin, tingin ko, ng overall master plan to address the garbage crisis. Kasi kailangan tuldukan na natin ’to once and for all,” Dizon said during the inspection.
