The Provincial Government of Tarlac and the City Government of Tarlac strengthened their partnership with the signing of seven Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) on August 7, formalizing cooperation in key areas of public service.
Gov. Christian Tell Yap and Mayor Susan Yap signed the agreements at the Governor’s Office covering:
- Disaster preparedness and response
- Sustainable agriculture, cooperatives and food security
- Public market development
- Employment and job facilitation
- Tourism and cultural activities
- Environmental protection
Yap said the agreements would improve coordination between the two governments and help prevent duplication of spending and investments.
“This is to formalize the partnership of the provincial government and city government as this would create a better efficiency, harmony between the two institutions,” Gov. Yap said, adding that “the whole province” would benefit from better planning and shared resources.
Mayor Yap said the closer partnership would make government services more coordinated and manageable.
“With the close coordination and a good relationship between the provincial government and the city government now, services are easily more manageable, harmonized and we can better serve our people,” she said.
Meanwhile, Gov. Yap said additional partnerships in healthcare, sustainability and education are also being considered, noting that coordinated planning could help the governments “save” funds for other programs benefiting Tarlaqueños.
