Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon, Bataan 2nd District Rep. Abet Garcia, and Asian Development Bank (ADB) Director General Nianshan Zhang, along with other ADB officials, discussed major infrastructure projects aimed at strengthening flood protection and improving connectivity across Luzon and the Visayas.
Among the projects discussed was the Manila Bay Integrated Flood Control, Coastal Defense and Expressway Project, which seeks to provide long-term protection against flooding while improving transport connectivity in coastal communities.
The Sorsogon-Samar Bridge Project was also tackled. The proposed bridge will establish a direct link between Luzon and Visayas, facilitating the movement of people and goods between the two regions.
The discussions support President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive for the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to work closely with multilateral development partners in expediting major infrastructure projects.
