The Pampanga provincial government convened an emergency inter-agency meeting on Monday as intermittent rains continued across much of the province, triggering rising water levels in several communities.
Governor Lilia Pineda and Vice Governor Dennis Pineda led the meeting with representatives from the Office of Civil Defense, Department of National Defense, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Health, water and electric cooperatives, and several mayors to strengthen the immediate response to the needs of flood-affected residents.
The meeting focused on the following priorities:
- Continuous food assistance for families staying in evacuation centers;
- Safe and sufficient water supply, particularly in Macabebe;
- Additional medicines and medical assistance** for affected communities;
- Augmentation of relief goods in areas difficult to reach due to high floodwaters;
- Additional rescue personnel to respond to continuing calls for assistance; and
- Faster inter-agency coordination as flooding persists across the province.
Authorities also discussed the heavy traffic along the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), which has disrupted travel and transportation. The situation remains under close monitoring due to its potential impact on the movement of people, delivery of essential supplies, and trade across Pampanga and other parts of North Luzon.
Flooding Situation
According to the Pampanga Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC):
- 327 barangays across 20 local government units are currently experiencing flooding.
- More than 17,000 individuals have been evacuated, while rescue and evacuation operations continue in affected communities.
Residents were urged to remain alert, follow advisories from authorities, and evacuate immediately when necessary to ensure their safety.
