Cebu Pacific has launched the Cebu Pacific Foundation Inc. (CPFI) as it celebrates its 30th anniversary, expanding its long-standing mission of connecting communities beyond air travel.

The foundation will focus on community resilience and sustainable tourism through nature-based solutions, working with local organizations, the private sector, civil society, development institutions, and government agencies to reduce disaster and climate risks, protect ecosystems, strengthen livelihoods, and support sustainable local economies.

CPFI Chairman and President Xander Lao said the foundation aims to connect communities with the institutions, expertise, and resources needed to protect natural environments and create better opportunities for families.

Its first major initiative, the Resilience & Inclusive Support for Empowerment of Capiz Coastal Communities (RISE Capiz Coast) Project, will begin in Barangay Culajao, Roxas City, before expanding to other areas in Roxas City and the municipalities of Ivisan and Panay in Capiz.

The project aims to rehabilitate 100 hectares of degraded coastal areas through mangrove restoration, with a long-term target of 500 hectares by 2030. It will also provide capacity-building in livelihood development, disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation, and other interventions tailored to coastal communities.

The Katunggan sa Culajao Salbaron Association Inc. (KACUSA), which leads local stewardship efforts in Culajao, welcomed the initiative as an opportunity to restore mangrove ecosystems and livelihoods affected by Typhoon Yolanda.

RISE Capiz Coast will be implemented in partnership with Futures, Inc., a Japan-based climate finance-linked project developer, and the Zoological Society of London (ZSL), an international conservation organization.

CPFI said it welcomes partnerships with organizations and individuals seeking to advance environmental protection, economic development, and community-led resilience initiatives.
