Senate President Pro Tempore Win Gatchalian welcomed the Philippines’ gains in the 2025 Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) results, saying the improvement reflects the impact of ongoing education reforms and learning recovery initiatives.

“Let us take pride in this achievement. It is truly encouraging to see that our collective efforts are bearing fruit, as reflected in the latest PISA results,” Gatchalian said.

He stressed, however, that the gains must be sustained through continued investments in education, including learning recovery programs such as the Academic Recovery and Accessible Learning (ARAL) Program.

“But the job is not yet done. We must sustain the momentum to ensure that these gains translate into lasting improvements in learning outcomes,” he said.

As Congress deliberates on the 2027 national budget, Gatchalian said education reforms must remain a priority, particularly those strengthening the foundations of learning from early childhood development to teacher education.

“Patuloy nating bibigyang-prayoridad ang mga repormang magpapatatag sa pundasyon ng ating mga mag-aaral, mula early childhood development hanggang teacher education, upang mas marami pa tayong makitang learning gains sa mga susunod na PISA results,” Gatchalian said.
