Immediate steps are now underway to rebuild the fire-damaged Pampang Public Market, with Pampanga First District Rep. Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. and Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II jointly seeking ₱300 million in funding for its rehabilitation.
The office of Cong. Pogi formally sent Thursday afternoon a letter to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. requesting the allocation of ₱300 million for the reconstruction of the burned sections of the market.
The letter was signed by the Lazatin brothers, underscoring their joint effort to expedite the market’s recovery.
Cong. Pogi also coordinated with national government agencies, including the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), to help secure the proposed funding for 2027.
“Importante ang tulungan naming magkapatid para lalong mapabilis ang pagbangon ng Pampang Market na hindi lang sentro ng komersyo kung hindi ng kultura ng bawat Angeleño,” the Congressman said.
Meanwhile, Mayor Jon held a meeting Thursday morning to discuss and mobilize recovery efforts following the fire that damaged parts of the market.
The latest moves come as authorities work to assess the damage and fast-track the rehabilitation of Pampang Public Market, a major commercial center serving Angeleños and residents of nearby communities.
