The New Clark City Athletics Stadium in Capas, Tarlac has once again secured the highest-level Class 1 certification from World Athletics, reinforcing its status as a world-class venue for track and field competitions.
The international governing body for athletics renewed the stadium’s Class 1 Athletics Facility Certificate on September 30, 2026, confirming that its facilities continue to meet the technical requirements for international-level athletics events.
The certification is valid until June 2029 and was received by the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA), owner of the facility.
BCDA President and Chief Executive Officer Joshua M. Bingcang said the renewed certification reflects the agency’s commitment to providing Filipino athletes with facilities that meet international standards.
“Maintaining the World Athletics Class 1 certification reflects our commitment to provide Filipino athletes with facilities that meet international standards,” Bingcang said, adding that BCDA will continue to maintain and improve the stadium as a reliable venue for athletes to train, compete, and represent the country.
He also acknowledged the support and guidance of the Philippine Sports Commission in ensuring that the New Clark City sports complex continues to serve Filipino athletes at international standards.
The stadium first earned its Class 1 certification in 2019. Its latest renewal followed an inspection and technical assessment covering the track’s dimensions and geometry, surrounding infrastructure, competition equipment, and synthetic track surface.
With a seating capacity of 20,000, the New Clark City Athletics Stadium features a nine-lane, 400-meter track and field facility and a four-lane warm-up track.
It is one of three major facilities within the New Clark City sports complex, together with the New Clark City Aquatics Center and the Athletes’ Village.
The renewed certification further positions New Clark City as a venue equipped to host high-level athletics competitions while providing Filipino athletes with facilities built to international standards.
