Magalang Mayor Malu Lacson says she has yet to receive Ombudsman Complaint

Magalang, Pampanga Mayor Maria Lourdes “Malu” P. Lacson has issued a statement addressing reports that a complaint has been filed against her before the Office of the Ombudsman, saying she has yet to receive an official copy of the complaint.

In a statement released by the Office of the Municipal Mayor, Lacson said she will respond fully and in detail once the complaint is formally served, through the appropriate legal process.

The statement also clarified that Lacson and her husband had fully divested their interests in Kingsmen Manpower Services in May 2022, before she assumed office as municipal mayor. It further maintained that Kingsmen has no contract or manpower deployment with Chuangxing Steel.

The clarification came after the United Pilipinos Against Crime and Corruption (UPACC) filed complaints before the Ombudsman against Lacson and 10 other individuals over allegations including graft and corruption, conflict of interest, abuse of authority and unexplained wealth in connection with Chuangxing Steel.

Lacson has denied the conflict-of-interest allegation and said she will address the accusations through the proper legal forum once she officially receives the complaint.

The allegations remain subject to the Ombudsman’s legal and investigative process, with no final finding or decision against Lacson reported at this stage.

The mayor’s office also appealed to Magalang residents to rely on official statements and allow due process to take its course.

Lacson reiterated her commitment to transparency, good governance and the rule of law, saying public service for the people of Magalang remains her priority.
